Confessions of a Shopaholic (Shopaholic, #1) by Sophie KinsellaBecky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London’s trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season’s must-haves. The only trouble is, she can’t actually afford it—not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn’t pay much at all. And lately Becky’s been chased by dismal letters from the bank—letters with large red sums she can’t bear to read. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Her only consolation is to buy herself something . . . just a little something.
Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life—and the lives of those around her—forever.

As we get older, more and more of us experience sleep related issues of some sort. For many people — including a close friend of mine whose condition inspired this piece — this takes the form of insomnia. Early to bed also means early to rise, and I'm generally up by 6 AM, if not earlier. It runs in the family, what can I say? But following the sleep schedule with the geriatrics of the world isn't easy, especially when you have friends that want to stay up and party into the early hours of the morning.
The best meteor shower of the year will light up the night skies this week, and a dimmer moon means it will be more visible than in recent years. The Perseid meteor shower occurs annually when debris left behind from the comet Swift-Tuttle ignites in the Earth's atmosphere, said Dave Falkner, program director for the Minnesota Astronomical Society's Eagle Lake Observatory. The meteor shower will peak on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Falkner said the best time to see it is between midnight and dawn, although meteors may be visible earlier as well. Viewing the meteor shower might require staying awake all night, and that reminds us there are a lot of songs about staying up all night. So for today's Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that are about staying awake all through the night?
