This song is really easy to figure out and no it isn't about suicide. I'll give it to you piece by piece. Like his girl friend moving away -time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go time passes by no matter what and you have to go along with it -so make the best of this test and don't ask why the test is your life. Don't ask why means just live your ife. He is trying to look back at the times he had with his girl friend and be happy but it's still really hard. See, the reason why I love this song so much is because it can have multiple meanings. Even though Billy Joe wrote this for a particular person, you can take these lyrics and apply them to just about any situation.

He tried to be levelheaded about it, but to show his anger, he named the song " Good Riddance" and made "Time Of Your Life" the subtitle. The song shows us.

Relationship

Top definition. Released on their fifth album, Nimrod, it has also been included on the albums International Superhits! Billie Joe Armstrong said about the song: "At the time I wrote Good Riddance, I was breaking up with a girl that was moving to Ecuador, and I was trying to be as understanding about it as I could. I wrote the song as kind of a bon voyage. I was trying not to be bitter, but I think it came out a little bit bitter anyway

His meaning was clear. Unlike all the toothless ex-punks and bloated superstars who littered the music business, Green Day would never surrender their distortion pedals or rework their hits on acoustic guitars for the benefit of a cross-legged audience. Until the release of Nimrod in , Armstrong was true to his word. So it came as a real surprise when the GD faithful reached the 17th track of the new album, only to be confronted with delicate work of acoustic picking and swooping strings. Where once he had yelped about masturbation, Armstrong was now singing about forks in the road and lessons learnt in time. Where previously his songs had been thrashed out with youthful abandon on an old Fernandes Stratocaster covered in punk rock stickers, this one found him strumming a Guild acoustic with skill and precision.
